Mike began his career in asset management and commercial mortgage lending in 1997 and brings significant institutional management and lending experience to his role at CareVest where he serves as a fund and portfolio manager with our fund management company along with serving as a director of CareVest Core MIC. Prior to joining CareVest in 2007, Mike generated loans for CIBC’s mortgage business as well as being part of the management team at Great West Life Insurance Company’s mortgage business in Alberta.

 

In his current role, Mike provides oversight of the group’s portfolio of mortgages, including credit approvals, agreements, special loans and recoveries, as well as oversight of the administration relationship with CareVest’s proprietary loan administration company. Having formerly served as a mortgage broker and being part of CareVest’s origination team, Mike understands the nuances of the commercial mortgage industry and has particular insight in all the risk management aspects of commercial mortgage lending; thus, is particularly well equipped to protect the investor capital that is entrusted to us.


Mike graduated with a degree in Commerce with a concentration in Finance from the Haskayne School of Business at University of Calgary.


Outside of work, Mike likes to travel, attend music festivals, listen to music on vintage audio equipment, and chase his son around the house.
